Go, momma, GO!

My hubby and I just finished restoring a vintage push toy for Fidget!

I've seen a few of these lately, but this is the first one I found that was in decent shape and sturdy enough to actually use. Tom took the whole thing apart, repainted everything and completely replaced all the hardware (including the wheels) with all new parts.

The foot rest under the scooter is removable so that the child can "flintstone" power the toy by themselves.

The push handle is also removable. Oh, and Tom added the horn to the handles; it's LOUD and makes a greak squeaka-squeaka sound! We took it for a test drive today, it's a hit:

I thought that tray would be awesome for holding snacky snacks, but it turns out to be a great place to store all your treasures, too! What I intended as a quick walk in front of the house turned into a walk all the way around the block. Safe to say we're going to have lots of fun walking together this summer!

Oh, by the way, do you have any idea about a date on this push toy? I can't find any similar pictures out there, and I don't even know if you'd call this a car or a scooter! What do you think?

EDITED: to say THANKS to BomshellShocked for passing on that link to http://wishbookweb.com/ where I found our walker/scooter in the 1947 Sears Christmas catalog! Here it is in the bottom left corner - it is the EXACT same scooter!

She's going to be the happiest girl on the block! I've never seen a toy like this but oh how I would have loved one when I was little ;^)

Not sure of the date but this site might be able to help. http://wishbookweb.com/
No idea about a date for the new ride or what you would call it, but it looks like fun. My Jak would have loved it several months ago. He seems to be so far ahead of kids his age. At least that is what the pediatrician says, lol, but he is a friend. My son saved his son's life (another story indeed) from a rattle snake bite. He thinks my little Jak is awesome (maybe a little bias). I bought him a little tricycle and we can't get him off of it...lol. So I think that is a little early to be triking but he sure loves it.

Erika I would love to sit with you for a cup of tea and chat about sewing. Jak and Kate could play. He would love pushing her around in her new ride. LOL! He is about the same age as Kate and already loves the girls...lol. Btw, your Kate is a doll and getting cuter every time you post a pic.

You and hubby did a great job restoring the ride. Have fun with it. Hugs, Karen

How cool is that? I'm sure every kid on the block is jealous of her your daughter's new ride. I'm saving this story to show my husband later; this is the kind of project he'd love. Great job!
