Light at the end of the tunnel

Yes, I can see the end of my sewing room clean-out project! YES!

So today I'm hanging some brand spankin' new curtains in the sewing studio. I'm trying plain white this time and hope that the light will diffuse through the fabric but still stay bright in the room. No, I'm not spending time sewing them from scratch, these are from Target. But I do have to hem the curtains over the sewing table since it is attached to the wall.

Dang those new windows are clear and bright! Hey, did I ever tell you guys about the massive sew-fail yo-yo bag I made last year? No? Oh, well that's probably for the best. I completely covered a tote-bag with brightly colored yo-yo's, which in itself is a good idea, but due to the different, brightly colored fabrics I chose, the result kind of looked like I killed a clown to make it. Yeah, it was so bad that I erased all of the photographic evidence from my computer. Anyway, I ended up cutting off all the yo-yo's from the bag to use on something else.

After I finished hanging the curtains on the other window yesterday, I decided the yo-yo's would add the perfect touch.

I sewed the yo-yo's across the top of the curtains with some vintage buttons, and added a yo-yo to the tie-backs, too.

What do you think? My hubs hates it, which makes me think it must look freakin' awesome because he has awful taste.

This is all I have left to organize (or get rid) of in the sewing room, and I'll tackle this last little mess over the weekend. Sounds like fun, huh? Yes, yes it does, and I cannot WAIT to see what this room lookes like when it is finally back in order!

The yo-yo trim on those clean white floaty panels is totally making me think of a little girl's headband wound together from springtime flowers, which if you can't have apron curtains has got to be pretty inspiring for a creative space. Love it!

Cute and very cheerful. Love the yoyo's.. and love that red chair!!!
I do not agree with your husband at all - I love the curtains and the yoyos. :) I have a friend who is a yoyo fanatic. I'll have to tell her about your curtains - she doesn't even own a computer or I'd send her to see them. :) blessings, marlene

Even your mess looks organized. I'm way envious. Have started cleaning mine as well, but I've got a long way to go.

A bright, well-lit, organized studio? Perfect. Can't wait to see what comes out of it this spring! This use of yo-yo's? It's a small dose and works very well - I get why the bag wasn't a success.

The yo-yos are just the perfect final touch. I love the airy-ness of the curtains and how they frame your view.

I wish you hadn't destroyed all the evidence of the yo-yo bag gone wild. I bet it made a good conversation piece ;-)
