Good News/Bad News

GOOD NEWS: I just got a phone call from my friend Carol who recognized a few very prominent photographs of mine in the new BurdaStyle Sewing Handbook on pages 10, 11 and 12!

And, I do remember (vaguely) answering a post from BurdaStyle months ago asking for submissions of sewing room photos for the book, even though I don't remember (and can no longer find) rules for the contest that say what would happen next.

BAD NEWS: I wasn't notified at all by BurdaStyle about my photos making it into the book, and if it wasn't for a friend recognizing my photo, I would still be in the dark.

As far as my credit for the photos, although the listing is CORRECT for my photo on page 10, the other two photos on pages 11 and 12 are incorrectly credited to someone else. Which kind of sucks.

Sadly, the excitement of being published in book form for the first time is a little overshadowed by disappointment, not only at having my work attributed to someone else, but by not even having the privilege of being one of the first to see it in print.

UPDATE:
2/6/2012
I have been in contact with someone from BurdaStyle who did check into the situation for me. There seems to be some confusion over why I wasn't notified, and BurdaStyle did apologize for the errors. My free copy of the book is in the mail, and I can't wait to see it in person.

um...that is so not right. Illegal dare I say? I think you should contact them. The least they could do is send you a few copies of the book and an apology. Sorry,Erika, that sucks.

On the bright side....thats an awesome pic of sewing room:)

Oh no! You should email them to make sure they know of their mistake (in not notifying you and in not crediting properly). I met one of the burda style ladies last fall at the sewing summit (I don't remember her name, dark hair, shoulder/arm tattoos) she was really nice. Hopefully they can at least make it right for any future editions of the book!
That is irritating and very sloppy of them to not have the right credits for each photo.

The first time I was published they spelled my last name wrong (en vs. on) and that upset me for awhile too.
I would let them know of your dissatisfaction. This way they can fix it for future printings, and maybe they mailed you one and it got lost in the mail or something.
