Easily Distracted

There's 10 other things I should be doing this afternoon, like working towards finishing up an impromptu quilt I started a few weeks ago - or folding laundry, starting dinner, working...etcetera...

Instead, Fidget and I are playing with Perler Beads. I'm not sure why it took me so long to discover Perler Beads, it's not like I've never seen them before - but this is the first time I have ever played with them. The last time we were at the fabric/craft store, Fidget picked some out to craft with.

You know, this is the craft where you set the little plastic Perler Beads on the shaped pegboards, then iron them down to finish it off. (Umm, of course I made a Chicago star!)

Fidget doesn't have the manual dexterity to create specific colors, so she made a few multi-colored shapes. Apparently she also doesn't have the attention span for this craft, because she's already switched over to coloring...

...while I keep on crafting away with the Perler Beads.

And made a little sewing machine! Okay, I'm only going to make a few more of these before starting dinner...

That is funny - perler is the Danish word for beads. What a great sewing machine you've made!

Omg! I haven't seen these since I was little! So neat!

Anna V I know, right? I somehow missed this craft as a kid (probably because I'm old) and am loving it now!

I gotta try it!

Haha, I remember them as a kid but don't remember making anything. My son made me a picture frame out of them ,still have it,. The teachers had him cut a picture the size of the mason jar lids, then they had him glue it to the top then added the beads using glue. I use the jar for some old and unusual stamps. Might have to get some and play with them. Love the sewing machine!!
Oh And how many did you make be for dinner??!!! Hahahaha

I love this little sewing machine. Do you make them to sell? I would love to have one, but I'm so clumsy with small beads it would take me forever to get one done.

Hey lej619, I ended up making one more before dinner, a hello kitty!

Hi Derenda, I don't make these to sell, but I bet you could find a kid (a niece or nephew, neighbor?) to put one of these together for you!
