Pillow & Blankie For Lambie: A First Project
Early this morning at zero-dark-thirty I made a promise to my tot Fidgit (who was having a hard time sleeping) that if she would JUST quiet down and nod off I would help her make a pillow and blankie for her most favoritest cuddlie, Lambie. Her middle-of-the-night reasoning for why she couldn't sleep was because Lambie didn't want to share her pillow and blankie anymore. So, of course, she kept asking me to get out of my bed and find Lambie a pillow and blankie of her own. Which probably made perfect sense inside her little toddler noggin' but it nearly drove me insane!
And so, despite my fears of her shorter than short attention span and inability to heed any of my "Don't touch that, it's very sharp!" sewing room warnings, we just finished her FIRST ever sewing project!
She spent a good 5 minutes (which is about 30 minutes for you or I) searching through the fabric scrap bin, and settled on some out of print kids fabric (from Benartex, I think it was called Baby Geniuses). Fidgit helped me sew by stepping on the foot control while I stitched the little pillow together.
Then she stuffed as I stitched the blankie together from two fat quarters and a scrap of batting.

She also helped by stepping on the foot pedal as I ran a few quilting stitches across the blankie.
