Yesterday was, well, one of those days. There was only one thing I REALLY wanted to do (finish up a little sundress) and wouldn't you just guess that's the last thing I had time for! I'll spare you all the gory details, but yesterday afternoon while I was in the middle of cooking dinner, picking up the backyard/house, and trying to finish some online work, my little one walked up to me with the biggest diaper blow-out I've yet witnesses as a mom. Yeah, yikes! After the clean up, dinner, the dishes, and work, I found time to finish the dress (and managed to make it to bed by midnight).
And now on to a new, better day, where K has a brand new sundress to wear!
I didn't really use a pattern but was inspired by several types of dresses I've seen just like this, mainly the Matilda Jane knot dress and similar styles from Etsy sellers like Pink Poppies, ArtsandAccents, sararoses3, etc...
I opted to leave off the aprony-thing in the front, and my straps have buttons instead of knots. My favorite thing about this dress is that the straps are long and adjustable, so she can keep wearing this the next few years until it ends up as a long top!
She really loves walking in the garden to check out what's growing and blooming.
We both love this pretty ground cover, although I have no idea what it's called, it has the prettiest little tiny yellow flowers. It grows along my neighbors stone wall, and it started growing in the middle of our garden a few years ago. We leave a little patch of it growing, but have to keep it in check since it spreads like crazy!
But if you ask K, nothing in the garden beats the awesome rocks! Yep, all my little girl really needs to be happy is a nice day, a new sundress, and some rocks! And believe it or not, that's about all I need today, too. :-)

Kate is a living doll! The sundress is adorable. Wow, wish I had sewn when my daughter was a baby! I didn't even own a sewing machine...yikes! She is now pregnant at age 38. Maybe it will be a girl???!!!!
And as far as rocks go my little Jak loves them. I found some in my pocket days after he went back home. But what can you expect his momma is a geologist!
Great post! Beautiful pictures! Blessings to all, Karen
I love the dress and Kate's beautiful curls! I think the mystery plant is sedum-- a neighbor of ours gave us some that looks like that, as well as a reddish variety called "dragon's blood" (cool!). She said they grow well in rocky areas, and the little "plant id" in the pot says they are deer resistant!
I love the dress! Looks like you had a fun day in the garden! :)
I love the fabric you chose for this dress. It is beautiful!
LOVE the dress! And, I agree with K. Rocks a a new frock...tough to beat. Also need to mention nice job eliminating the faux apron and knots...I like your design a lot. Clean and simple and lovely.
Your yellow plant reminds me of Basket of Gold - Golden Alyssum - but hard to tell from a distance. I have some in my yard.
The flower you're having trouble identifying is likely a moss rose. Love the dress!
