QUILTY Episodes with Erika Mulvenna

Today I'm celebrating the return of the long-lost QUILTY episode with Mary Fons, dating from 2013, featuring my first-ever patchwork quilt! Yay! This online episode was filmed in December 2012, posted in February 2013, and disappeared a few years later. Like, I mean, it was totally gone from the list of available Quilty episodes, even though there was a web page placeholder for the episode. I contacted QNNTV as soon as I noticed the video was gone, and was told they couldn't find it.

Last month, I decided to try connecting with the company that currently owns the Quilty library, and this time got in touch with someone who took a few minutes to dig for it AND FOUND THE VIDEO! I'm excited on multiple levels, but the biggest reason is that I made this quilt for my kiddo, who was only 4 at the time I made the quilt. And that kiddo is now 16! It's awesome for her to see me talking about her quilt all those many years ago (and NOW I feel super old).

Quilty was a creation of Mary Fons, fusing her love of writing, performing, and quilting into media to help beginners learn (and geek out) about quilting. I am SUPER grateful for being invited to participate in Quilty through some of the videos and contributing a tutorial article to the print magazine. And now that the episodes are all online, you can watch all of the episodes Mary invited me to be a part of:

I can't believe it's been 12-13 years since those Quilty days, and thinking back now, it's amazing that Mary Fons was able to create such a fun way to make quilting accessible to younger generations. Mary still has a hand in educating the world about quilting through lectures, publications, videos, and articles - find Mary's blog here to read all about it.

Do YOU have a favorite magazine about quilting? I haven't subscribed to a quilting mag since those Quilty days - maybe I need some recommendations!
